Annie Brady is an Irish illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Boston, MA. Coming from a country where it rains more often than not, Annie has long found herself drawn to the warmth and playfulness of rich floral patterns; a joyous escape from the gathering clouds! Her love of folklore, mid century design, rambling gardens and the heady pull of travel also act as endless wells of inspiration.
Annie started her career as a graphic designer, graduating in 2004 from The National College of Art & Design in Dublin with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication. After a number of years working her way up the agency ranks, she accepted a design job with the popular Irish fashion and lifestyle store, Avoca. Although employed as the ‘graphic designer’, Annie’s eyes were soon opened to the many different applications for surface pattern design. Before long she had contributed to best selling ranges across fashion, textiles, home decor and stationary. It was the beginning of a whole new direction in her design journey.
Following the success of her collections for Avoca, Annie started up her own studio in 2012. She now licenses her designs to brands across the globe and more recently is in the process of manufacturing a textile line of her own. So watch this space!
